Frequently Asked Questions

When is it appropriate to start thinking about receiving Hospice Services?

Very often people and their families tell us, “We wish we entered your hospice program sooner.” A common misconception is that hospice care is only for the last few days of life. In fact people with an advanced illness can benefit most when they have hospice for the final months of life. Most people choose to receive hospice services when their physician thinks curative treatments are no longer working or when they have six months or less to live. Two studies—one recently released by the New England Journal of Medicine and an earlier 2007 study—have found that many people live longer with hospice and palliative care. Researchers also found that people receiving hospice care reported a higher quality of life.

The easiest place to begin is to give us a call and ask for our Referral Center. There is no obligation and by the end of the call we think you will have your questions answered. 1-800-405-6731.
