The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization reports that approximately 400,000 hospice volunteers contribute more than 18 million hours per year.
Why are Volunteers important?
Hospice volunteers are the heart of Hospice and among its most valuable resources. They can bring companionship to people who are on our program and respite and support to the caregiver and other family members. Volunteers are drawn from every age group and background. All Hospice Volunteers are committed to making a difference in the lives of their neighbors.

Training
The completion of a 16-hour training program is required of all Patient Care Volunteers. An experienced Patient Care Volunteer may take additional training to become a Bereavement Volunteer. On-the-job training and supervision is provided for all other volunteers. A volunteer coordinator can provide more information about training requirements and schedules.
